It was actually boys vs. women. The U.S. Women's hockey team, to be exact. Yesterday afternoon Kyle's varsity team played the U.S. Women's hockey team. Since they wouldn't want it misconstrued as a "game", it was played in two 30-minute halves instead of three periods and no score was kept. Aidan and I went for the first half. (right smack in the middle of nap time, but how often do you get to see the women's hockey team?) Most of their players came from Minnesota "The State of Hockey", but there were a few from CT and CA.
Aidan enjoyed the first fifteen minutes. He watched the puck fly back and forth across the ice, his head swiveling from side to side. Then he noticed the cute high school girls in the row behind us...and that was the end of hockey for him. He was way too busy flirting with the girls to watch hockey. Such a ladies man.
It seemed to me the teams were pretty evenly matched while we were there. Each team scored two goals in the first 30 minutes. When Kyle got home he told me the varsity really brought it in the second half. According to him, "the boys were afraid to hit the girls and were making mistakes because of it" in the first half. Apparently that was all cleared up during half-time and the boys came back to beat the women's team. I was rooting for the women, but I guess it never hurts to have your hometown team win.
